LEADERSHIP
Theresa Hastings, Director
Theresa was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1998 at age 15 and spent many years without knowing others with T1D until finding the diabetes community in 2014. That year, she founded the Denver chapter of DiabetesSisters and led it until 2021. Through this work, she became involved in the open-source diabetes community and began Looping on September 12, 2017. She later contributed to OpenOmni user testing in 2018 and trialed FreeAPS and FreeAPSX by 2019, which evolved into today’s Trio app. As a founder of Trio, Theresa now focuses on strengthening unity within the DIY open-source community. Alongside Tim Gunn, she helped revive #WeAreNotWaiting hackathons in 2024 and continued that momentum with #hackdiabetes25 in November 2025, with plans to continue supporting community-building and development efforts into the future.
Tim Gunn, Director
Tim was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1997 and has since paired his lived experience with a passion for technology and software development. He joined the #WeAreNotWaiting movement in 2017 and later closed the loop with OpenAPS, which sparked his ongoing commitment to open-source diabetes innovation. He has contributed to multiple community projects and founded Nightscout New Zealand in 2019. Today, Tim focuses on software development, research, and clinical testing to advance open-source Automated Insulin Delivery systems.
Gail deVore, Founding Director
Gail is the President and CEO of 2Degrees LLC, a Denver-based marketing and technology company. She is also a professional musician, an avid tennis player, and has had T1D for more than 40 years. She and her husband have 4 adult children and 6 grandchildren.
Kate Farnsworth, Director
Kate is the mother of 4 daughters, the oldest of whom lives with Type 1 Diabetes. As a Digital Media Designer and IT Specialist, she seeks out ways to use technology and effective design solutions to make life easier for those who live with Type 1 diabetes and the people that care for them — advocating for the Canadian Diabetes community since 2012.
Weston Nordgren, Vice President, Community Outreach
Father of five, grandfather of three, Weston has teamed up with his wife of 40 years to advocate for the Nightscout Project and open source solutions that help alleviate the suffering of those struggling with T1. With the T1 diagnosis of their son eighteen years ago at 12 months of age, it became very apparent that the toolset available was insufficient. Weston and his wife have made it their life's work to passionately advocate for real-world solutions found in the Nightscout and #WeAreNotWaiting communities.
James Wedding, P.E., President
James works in Technical Sales for Autodesk, Inc. An avid technologist, he’s passionate about using tech to make life as normal as possible for his T1 daughter and other kids with diabetes. James lives in McKinney, Texas, with his wife and their two daughters.
